It’s important that students get a chance to experience what it’s like to work professionally in a commercial environment, especially if they can participate in projects of social relevance. This contest is the perfect example of such an opportunity because it challenges both student creativity and executive marketing.

People produce a lot of waste. Recycling and upcycling are more than ever essential to our future. If we can change our way of thinking and designing, it has to be possible to turn our waste into something useful. For students, our future designers, this is the ideal chance to discover new production processes, make smart choices of materials and come up with durable solutions.

This contest springs from one of the biggest challenges of our time: recycling and using old materials in a completely different context. After all, we need to start taking care of our resources. Thrift and inventiveness will gain importance in the following years. That’s what this contest is all about. Young designers will find their creative minds triggered by it.
